    <title>Intro</title>
     <sect1 id="about-lms">
          <title>About LMS</title>
          <para>LMS (LAN Management System) is a package of applications for managing LAN
          networks. Its main goal is to provide the best service to customers, as seen in large ISP
          companies. LMS is written in PHP, Perl and C and can use MySQL or PostgreSQL as
          its database backends. The following functionalities are provided at the time:</para>

                    <para>customer database (names, addresses, phones, comments, etc),</para>
            </listitem>
            <listitem>
                      <para>computers inventory (IP, MAC),</para>
            </listitem>
            <listitem>
                      <para>simple financial system suited for network operations,</para>

                      <para>financial balances and invoices,</para>
            </listitem>
            <listitem>
                  <para>email warnings to users,</para>
            </listitem>
            <listitem>
                  <para>automatic billing schedule,</para>

                  <para>ability to generate (almost) any kind of config file (ie.
               ipchains/iptables firewall scripts, DHCP daemon configuration,
               zones for bind, /etc/ethers entries, oident, htb and more...),</para>

               <para>visualization of bandwidth consumption per host,</para>
          </listitem>
          <listitem>
                    <para>request tracker system (Helpdesk),</para>
          </listitem>

                    <para>timetable (Organizer).</para>

          <para>Initial components of this software were invented to aid administration of <ulink
          url="http://www.netx.waw.pl/">ASK NetX</ulink> (amateur computer network) and it's still
          developed and tested here.</para>
          <para>LMS won't replace administration skills. If you can't handle installation and
          configuration of your system, you likely won't manage to adjust LMS for your system. In
          short - administration of UNIX systems is needed to operate this software.</para>

               <title>Ideas and Bugs Reports</title>
              <para>In order to effectively report bugs or new ideas, it's recommended to
               subscribe mailing list, where you can get quickest response for your problems from
               either LMS users or developers team. There's also Bug Tracking System available, when
               you can report bugs upon registration. Reports from BTS are also forwarded to mailing
               list, so the best practice is to subscribe to list, report via BTS and send link to
               mailing list and finally wait as your report will evolve. BTS address is <ulink

			<title>Commercial Support</title>

				There are questions appearing periodically on lms mailing lists about adding some funtions to LMS.
				Matter of payment for support is very difficult. Note, that there is no company behind LMS,
				so any commercial adoption or support should be discussed directly between You and involved developer.
				You are reading english version of documentation, it's likely that you are not from Poland, which makes even simple things like issuing invoice or money transfer complex.
